Set in Hope Harbor, a remote village located near the Demilitarized Zone, HOPE begins with an alarming report that a mysterious tiger has appeared in the area.
What initially appears to be an extraordinary animal sighting soon develops into a terrifying crisis. Bum-seok, the chief of the local police outpost, is forced to confront a situation that goes far beyond anything he could have anticipated.
As the mysterious threat grows, the villagers are pushed into a fight for survival. The film explores themes of fear, human instinct and survival while combining creature-driven action with science fiction, suspense and large-scale spectacle.

Writer and director Na Hong-jin said that the film was conceived around the primal fear of encountering an unknown creature and gradually expands into a larger story about survival, human instinct and the consequences of fear.
