Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini Honours Kickboxing Champion Sudhir Saxena for National and International Achievements

Chandigarh, July 10, 2025 – In a moment of great pride and recognition for Indian sports, international kickboxing star Sudhir Saxena was honoured today by the Chief Minister of Haryana, Shri Nayab Singh Saini, for his outstanding contribution to martial arts and his role in inspiring youth across the nation. The felicitation ceremony was held at the Haryana Civil Secretariat, where Sudhir was celebrated for his bronze medal win at the Asian Kickboxing Championships in Cambodia and his silver medal at the 4th India Open Kickboxing Championship held in New Delhi.

The Chief Minister lauded Sudhir’s perseverance, discipline, and commitment to both his sport and the nation, calling him a “symbol of India’s fighting spirit.”

A Remarkable Journey from Rural Roots to International Glory

Sudhir Saxena’s story is one of resilience and relentless determination. Hailing from the village of Lahasani in Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh, Sudhir defied all odds to rise through the ranks of Indian martial arts. Without access to modern training infrastructure in his early days, he relied on sheer willpower, discipline, and the dream of representing India on the global stage.

That dream came true with his medal-winning performances, which have brought India international recognition in the world of combat sports.

A Role Model for Youth

During the felicitation, CM Nayab Singh Saini praised Sudhir not only for his sportsmanship but also for his influence on the younger generation:

“Sudhir Saxena is a proud son of India. His journey from a small village to winning international medals is truly inspiring. He is not just a champion in the ring, but a torchbearer of discipline, courage, and social commitment.”

He further emphasized the importance of encouraging such athletes who not only strive for personal excellence but also take active roles in nation-building through mentorship and social work.

Beyond Medals: A Life Committed to Social Good

Sudhir’s contribution goes far beyond his performance in the ring. He is actively involved in philanthropic work across India, collaborating with various NGOs and grassroots initiatives to improve rural education, promote health awareness, and empower young people through sports.

Notably, Sudhir has worked with the Gauravi Foundation, supported by Mahesh Verma and Summit Chaudhry, which has enabled him to launch impactful community development programs. He also acknowledges the support of Punjab National Bank (PNB), where he was felicitated on Republic Day by MD & CEO Shri Ashok Chandra for his sporting achievements and service.

Pillars of Support Behind the Success

In his address, Sudhir Saxena expressed heartfelt gratitude for the people who’ve stood beside him through thick and thin.

He paid tribute to his father, Mr. Suresh Saxena, whose values and encouragement shaped his journey from childhood, and to his wife, Priyanka Gautam, whose unwavering emotional and moral support he credits as a key driver behind his success.

“My journey is not a solo run. It’s built on the sacrifices and belief of my family, friends, mentors, and supporters,” he shared emotionally.

Sudhir Saxena has received unwavering support from Mayank Madhur and Vijay Kumar, whose constant encouragement, belief, and motivation have been instrumental in fueling his journey — both as a sportsperson and a changemaker in society.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Sudhir is deeply committed to mentoring youth and promoting fitness and mental strength. Through workshops, motivational talks, and training camps, he encourages youngsters to pursue sports not just as a career, but as a way of life that teaches character, discipline, and self-belief.

He urged the Haryana youth to embrace sports as a vehicle for personal growth and social contribution:

“No matter where you come from, your dreams are valid. With focus, hard work, and the right values, you can rise above any challenge — just as I did.”

Looking Ahead

As he continues to train for upcoming international tournaments, Sudhir remains focused on his larger mission — to empower underprivileged youth through sports and to create awareness about physical and mental well-being. His vision includes opening kickboxing academies in rural areas and working closely with state and national bodies to improve infrastructure for martial arts in India.

Sudhir Saxena’s honour by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is not just a celebration of sporting achievement, but a recognition of a life lived with purpose. From the boxing ring to community halls, Sudhir continues to fight — not just for titles, but for a stronger, healthier, and more inspired India.
