From cracking tough National Ph.d. entrance exam to winning international awards: Ali Ashhar’s commendable contribution to literature

Ali Ashhar is making big in the field of literature with his unwavering passion

A poet, short story writer, columnist, motivational author, public speaker and doctoral entrance exam achiever— some of the feathers in the cap of multi-talented, Ali Ashhar. Ali Ashhar was born in a family of doctors. This impacted  the way he perceived the world. Coming from a town in Uttar Pradesh to making it big in the world of literature, Ali Ashhar is definitely making a positive impact not just within the literary community, but also in the field of education globally. Ali Ashhar firmly believes in what Nelson Mandela once said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” His personality is a living example of his firm commitment. He aspires to get laurels for his people, community and country on a global level. He has authored two poetry collections (published in over 20 countries) fetching him several national and international literary awards. From getting his motivational words published in prestigious media outlets like The Wire, Amar Ujala, Kashmir Observer to carving a place in the literary magazines of King’s College London, New York University, Illinois State University, University of Maine and Southern New Hampshire University; his contribution to the literary community has been immense. He has also participated and won several national and international literary contests hosted by literary organisations and universities around the world.  Moreover, he has been invited to address gatherings at the Illinois State University and different parts of California, grace literary ceremonies in London, Dubai, Malaysia and other parts of the world.

Ali Ashhar excels not only in the writing industry, but also in the academics. His dedication speaks volumes as he cracked tough Ph.d. entrance exam coming from a place where people often don’t pursue doctoral studies in English or face challenges with English as a language. He believes it doesn’t matter where you come from or what’s your background, if you have the visionary passion to work upon something consistently you can make any dream come true. He doesn’t believe in following the crowd but his heart.

Here’s a poem of Ali Ashhar published in the journal of Sinclair Community College which speaks about the pioneers of education whose role is to enlighten the society:

It’s the month of october and the transition

is up for the day, the chirping birds witness

desolate leaves at the onset of fall season. Beyond

the aloof horizon belies a vibrant ray of hope;

the caretaker’s metaphors get busy in bridging

the gap between the inner voice and the outer discord,

the syllables get heavy in the contemporary weather

for they carry the onus of vacant melodies

from erstwhile summer. The breeze of conscience around

the garden leads to a boulevard where fellow caretakers

vie for utopia; they follow a ritual in the toughest of times

they profess what comes easiest to them—enlighten the dark ambiance.
