“Birwa” – A Song Born from Emotions Lyricist : Dr sagar

In Indian cinema, weaving emotions into threads of words is every lyricist’s dream. Dr. Sagar, who hails from Ballia, Uttar Pradesh and has carved a distinct identity for himself in Bollywood in recent years, has recently penned a song for Anurag Kashyap’s film Nishaanchi that directly touches the heart – “Birwa”.

This song has been voiced by the magician of melodies, Arijit Singh, whose soulful voice lends depth to every line. The music has been composed by the talented young composer Anurag Saikia. The union of lyrics and melody gives this song a unique soul.

According to Dr. Sagar, “Birwa is not just a song, but a tree of emotions, which holds within it hope, pain, and the tenderness of relationships. While writing it, I tried to give words to those feelings which people often experience but cannot express.”

Experience with Anurag Kashyap

Anurag Kashyap, often regarded as the game changer of Indian cinema, has always presented reality and raw truths in his films with remarkable artistry. Be it Gangs of Wasseypur, Mukkabaaz, or Black Friday, his films reflect society like a mirror.
Dr. Sagar shares, “Working with Anurag Sir was a truly unique experience. He understands every word of a song and insists that lyrics should not merely be sung, but lived.”

The Journey of the Song

The journey of “Birwa” was not confined to pen and paper. From composing its tune to recording it in Arijit Singh’s voice, every step carried an emotional connection. When Arijit finally sang it, both the lyricist and the composer felt as though the song had finally reached its rightful destination.

Why “Birwa” is Special

This song touches listeners’ hearts because it captures the deeper layers of human emotions. It is not just about love or separation, but also about unspoken truths of life, the ache of relationships, and the tale of broken and scattered dreams.

Dr. Sagar’s writing, Anurag Saikia’s composition, and Arijit Singh’s voice – together take “Birwa” to a place where the song is not just heard, but truly felt.
