Dr. Sarojini Rajmohan has been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from IMSR Delhi for her research titled “The Role of Revenue Cycle Management in Improving Hospital Profitability.” Her study highlights the critical role of Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) in strengthening the financial sustainability of hospitals, particularly in resource-constrained healthcare systems such as India.
Using a mixed-methods research design, Dr. Rajmohan analyzed data from 120 hospitals across public, private corporate, charitable, and standalone institutions. The findings demonstrate that key RCM indicators—including claim denial rates, Days in Accounts Receivable, and Net Collection Ratio—account for over 60% of the variance in hospital profitability.
The research underscores that hospitals with structured governance frameworks, trained RCM teams, and advanced technology adoption achieve superior financial performance. It also identifies payer mix and reimbursement policy design as significant determinants of institutional sustainability.
Dr. Sarojini’s work reframes Revenue Cycle Management as a strategic and ethical driver of hospital resilience, offering valuable insights for healthcare leaders, administrators, and policymakers.
In an era where accuracy, compliance, and data-driven decision-making define the success of modern healthcare systems, professionals who bridge clinical expertise with revenue cycle integrity play a vital role. Sarojini Rajmohan, M.Tech, CPC, CCS, stands out as a seasoned healthcare professional whose expertise in medical coding, clinical documentation improvement (CDI), and auditing has consistently delivered measurable value across leading healthcare institutions in the UAE.
With over eight years of progressive experience in inpatient and outpatient medical coding, Sarojini has established herself as a trusted authority in IR-DRG coding, reimbursement optimization, and regulatory compliance. Currently based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, she has held pivotal roles in reputed healthcare organizations such as Mediclinic Al Noor Hospital, Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, and Aster Hospital Dubai, contributing significantly to coding accuracy, compliance, and financial sustainability.
Sarojini’s professional journey is built on a strong academic foundation in life sciences and biotechnology. She holds an M.Tech in Biotechnology from Anna University, Chennai, along with a B.Tech in Biotechnology and a Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology. This solid grounding in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology enables her to accurately interpret complex clinical documentation and translate it into precise, compliant medical codes.
Complementing her academic credentials are globally recognized professional certifications. Sarojini is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), reflecting her mastery of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and DRG methodologies. Her consistently high certification scores demonstrate both technical excellence and a strong commitment to quality and ethical coding practices.
During her tenure as an RCM Administrator at Mediclinic Al Noor Hospital from 2021 to 2024, Sarojini played a key role in strengthening inpatient coding accuracy and reimbursement outcomes. Her responsibilities included abstracting clinical data from inpatient records, assigning IR-DRG codes, validating medical necessity, and ensuring strict adherence to HAAD and insurance guidelines. One of her most notable contributions was in improving the Case Mix Index (CMI). By analyzing admitting versus discharge DRGs and incorporating CDI metrics such as physician queries and education, she helped enhance reimbursement rates while maintaining high standards of clinical quality.
Earlier in her career, Sarojini served as a Medical Auditor (IR-DRG) at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Ajman, where she handled multispecialty audits, ensured compliance with UHDDS guidelines and coding clinics, and identified documentation gaps. In addition to auditing, she actively trained coders, conducted assessments, and educated physicians, contributing to improved turnaround times, reduced denials, and higher first-pass claim acceptance rates.
Sarojini brings hands-on expertise with leading hospital information systems and coding platforms, including Cerner, TrakCare, HIS, Citrix, Optum360, and 3M, and has worked extensively with major insurance providers across the UAE. Known for her integrity, analytical thinking, and collaborative approach, she remains deeply committed to advancing documentation quality, regulatory compliance, and sustainable healthcare revenue management.
