IND vs AUS: Team India Departs for Historic 5-Test Series, Spotlight on Captain Rohit

Team India is gearing up for a highly anticipated tour of Australia, featuring the first 5-match Test series between the two nations in 32 years as part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The last such series was held during the 1991-92 season. This historic event will see the Indian squad traveling in two separate batches for the tour. All eyes will be on skipper Rohit Sharma amid speculation surrounding his participation in the first Test. Recent updates suggest he will be available for selection.

Departure Details and Squad Update

The Indian team is scheduled to depart in two phases, with the first group leaving on November 10 and the second on November 11. Captain Rohit Sharma is expected to join the first batch, though his final status for the opening Test remains uncertain. Notably, five players—Abhimanyu Easwaran, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Prasidh Krishna—are already in Australia, having recently played for India A in an unofficial Test series against Australia A. Additionally, three reserve players are also on-site to support the main squad.

Series Opener in Perth

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy will kick off on November 22 with the first Test in Perth, running through November 26. This will be followed by a day-night Test in Adelaide from December 6 to 10, played with a pink ball. The schedule allows for a 9-day interval between the first and second matches, during which Team India might face Australia’s Prime Minister’s XI in a two-day practice game under lights. The remainder of the series will proceed after these matches.
