India’s First AI-Librarian, VEDA, Launched by One Library Per Village (OLPV)

Trivandrum, November 2024 — One Library Per Village (OLPV), a non-profit organization working to make knowledge accessible to all, proudly announces the launch of VEDA (Virtual Education Digital Assistance), India’s first AI-powered librarian. This innovative tool is designed to help students, educators, and researchers easily find and access books, articles, and educational resources anytime, anywhere.

What is VEDA?

VEDA is an intelligent, virtual librarian that assists users by providing personalized
recommendations for books, academic papers, and other learning materials. It’s available 24/7 and can answer questions across a wide range of subjects, making it an essential resource for anyone seeking knowledge, whether for school, research, or personal growth.

“VEDA brings the library to your fingertips. Whether you’re in a village or a city, it ensures access to a wealth of information,” said Sujai G Pillai, Founder of OLPV. “Our mission is to make learning tools available to everyone, especially those in rural communities, and VEDA is a big step in that direction.”

Build Your Own Metaverse Library

What makes VEDA unique is its ability to help users create their own Metaverse Libraries. The Metaverse is a virtual space where users can explore books and educational content in a 3D, interactive environment. With VEDA, students and educators can build their own virtual reading rooms, study spaces, and collaborative learning environments to explore knowledge with friends, family, or teachers—adding a whole new dimension to education.

Empowering Learning in Every Community

Alongside the launch of VEDA, OLPV continues its work with Mini-Libraries, small yet impactful community hubs designed to give students and readers easy access to both physical and digital books. These libraries, equipped with modern technology, serve as places where students can exchange books, collaborate, and use digital tools for project- based learning. By combining VEDA’s AI capabilities with these Mini-Libraries, OLPV is ensuring that even the most remote areas have access to advanced learning tools.

“Our goal is to transform libraries into vibrant community learning centers,” Sujai G Pillai added. “With VEDA and our Mini-Library initiative, we are making sure that students from every part of India can benefit from cutting-edge technology.”
