Mumbai: Filmmaker Rajan Mishra’s upcoming film ‘Article 25’, based on the sensitive and thought-provoking subject of religious conversion, is a courtroom drama that promises to deliver a hard-hitting narrative. The much-awaited teaser of the film was launched in Mumbai by actor Yashpal Sharma, who also plays a pivotal role in the film. Vinn Modgill also essays a strong and significant character in the courtroom drama.
Written and directed by Rajan Mishra, Article 25 revolves around religious conversion and political conspiracies. Alongside Yashpal Sharma and Vinn Modgill, the film features Rajgopal Iyer, Shakti Kumar, Sushil Parashar, Akanksha Pandey, Parul Rai and Garima Kapoor in key roles.
The film is produced under the banner of Megapixels Entertainment Private Limited by Rajan Mishra, Tirash Pal Singh and Akhilesh Tripathi. The writing and direction credits go to Rajan Mishra and Anshuman Srivastavaa.
Talking about the film, producer-director Rajan Mishra said that Article 25 of the Indian Constitution gives every citizen the freedom to profess and practice any religion. However, reports of poor and vulnerable people being lured into changing their religion in exchange for money deeply shocked him and inspired him to write the story of the film.
Based on true events and shot in Lucknow, the film follows the life of a young psychiatrist whose world falls apart after a horrific incident. Refusing to succumb to family pressure and political influence, she decides to fight for justice. As the case progresses in court, several shocking secrets, political conspiracies, corruption and an alleged religious conversion network gradually come to light.
Rajan Mishra says, “I consider the story to be the real hero of this film.”
