Visual artist Santanu Hazarika and musician Kayan made a striking appearance at a recent event, transforming the red carpet into a runway of rebellion and emotion through powerful wearable art.
Santanu wore a surreal, anatomical ensemble featuring a sculptural red heart stitched to his chest—symbolizing how love and empathy, while beautiful, can become overwhelming and all-consuming. The look, co-designed with Saoni from Sazo, was completed with metallic armor gauntlets, oversized black trousers, and blood-stained sleeves—an edgy, gothic nod to anime, gaming, and romantic darkness.
Kayan accompanied him in a hand-painted corset by Santanu, created in collaboration with designer Indrakshi Pattnaik. The piece, themed “It’s just a body,” featured anatomical illustrations over sheer fabric—challenging the male gaze and reclaiming the narrative around the female form.
More than fashion, the duo’s appearance was a statement—transforming themselves into living installations that blurred the lines between art, identity, and resistance.
