Designed for demanding professionals, the Alpha 1 II integrates Sony’s most advanced technologies—including a powerful AI processing unit—delivering exceptional resolution, speed, and subject recognition.
With a 50.1-megapixel stacked CMOS sensor, blackout-free continuous shooting up to 30 fps with AF/AE tracking, and enhanced image clarity at mid-to-high sensitivities, the Alpha 1 II sets a new benchmark in the world of digital imaging. It also incorporates breakthrough features from the Alpha 9 III, such as Pre-Capture and improved ergonomics, all packed into a compact 743-gram body.

1. Ultra-High Resolution with Exmor RS™ and BIONZ XR™
At the heart of the Alpha 1 II is a full-frame stacked Exmor RS™ CMOS sensor with approximately 50.1 effective megapixels, paired with the advanced BIONZ XR™ image processor. The camera ensures stunning image quality, even when cropped to APS-C mode—yielding approx. 21 MP—ideal for diverse shooting scenarios.
2. Next-Generation AI-Powered Autofocus
The new AI processing unit powers Real-time Recognition AF, enabling the camera to identify and track human heads, torsos, animals, birds, insects, and vehicles with remarkable accuracy. A new “Auto” mode intelligently recognizes subjects without manual selection, enhancing flexibility during dynamic shoots.
3. 30 fps Continuous Shooting with Pre-Capture
The Alpha 1 II offers blackout-free continuous shooting at up to 30 fps, backed by AF/AE tracking and 120 calculations per second. It also introduces a Pre-Capture mode, recording up to 1 second before the shutter release, ensuring you never miss a crucial moment. The Continuous Shooting Speed Boost allows temporary adjustments to burst speed on the fly.
4. Cinematic Video: 8K and 4K Recording Capabilities
Professional videographers will appreciate 8K 30p and 4K 120p recording options. The camera captures 8.6K oversampled 4K video, supports 10-bit 4:2:2 XAVC HS, and offers Full HD proxy recording. It also includes Super 35mm 5.8K oversampled 4K with full pixel readout and no binning, allowing for flexible post-production.
5. Enhanced Image Stabilization and Noise Reduction
The Alpha 1 II offers up to 8.5 stops of stabilization in the center and 7.0 stops at the periphery, making it ideal for handheld shooting. The anti-distortion shutter and tuned noise performance ensure excellent results in challenging light conditions, such as indoor sports or concerts.

A redesigned body offers improved grip, repositioned shutter button, and optimized custom buttons. The 3.2-inch 4-axis vari-angle LCD provides versatile framing options, and the new deep eyepiece cup (model FDA-EP21) enhances viewing comfort.
7. Improved Power and Workflow Efficiency
The BC-ZD1 dual-battery charger charges two NP-FZ100 batteries in just 155 minutes. The Alpha 1 II is also compatible with the VG-C5 vertical grip for enhanced ergonomics and extended shooting sessions.
For seamless content delivery, the camera features 2.5GBASE-T wired LAN support for high-speed data transfer. Through Sony’s Creators’ Cloud, users can automatically sync images to Adobe Lightroom or Google Drive, enabling real-time workflow optimization.
