India Meets International Spy Comedy

Blending classic farce with contemporary Indian humour, Carry On Spying brings international diplomacy, mistaken identities, and Indian chaos to the stage. As Bharat Dabholkar puts it, “We’ve seen India beat the world on the battlefield and on the cricket pitch—now watch Indians outwit the world with humour!”

Stellar Cast & Crew

The play features a powerhouse ensemble including Ananth Mahadevan, Tannaz Irani, Suresh Menon, Vikas Patil, Charmy Kelaiya, Mohan Azad, Dr. Deepa Bhajekar, and Bharat Dabholkar himself, who also steps into an acting role.

  • Written & Directed by: Bharat Dabholkar

  • Presented by: Paritosh Painter (Ideas The Entertainment Company)

  • Produced by: Sejal Painter

The Madcap Plot

Set in a fictional Asian country “behind the Iron Curtain,” the comedy unfolds in the Indian Embassy—temporarily run by Pyare Mohan Dixit, the Ambassador’s clueless son. His day spirals out of control when a Gujarati tourist family, the Patels, stumble into a top-secret missile zone and are mistaken for international spies.

From a flamboyant oil tycoon and a Bond-style police chief to a cook-turned-magician hiding in a cupboard for six years, the chaos escalates into a whirlwind of mistaken identities, bullets, love stories, and hilarious escape attempts.

A Celebration of Indian Humour

With sharp writing, physical comedy, dance sequences, and memorable characters, Carry On Spying is a laugh-a-minute rollercoaster. It promises to deliver a perfect mix of classic English farce with an unmistakable Indian twist, making it the season’s most entertaining English theatrical production.
