The Telugu film industry is witnessing the emergence of a fresh creative voice as Naaag Nithin continues to establish himself as an actor, writer, and director with a growing body of work across cinema and theatre. Hailing from Tenali, Andhra Pradesh, Naaag has steadily built his career through hands-on experience in acting, screenplay writing, theatre, and filmmaking. Rather than following a conventional path, he has embraced multiple creative disciplines, allowing him to understand storytelling both in front of and behind the camera.
Naaag Nithin began his acting journey with the Telugu short film Yekkada Dongalu Akkade in 2018, in which he played the lead role. His passion for performance also extended to theatre play, where he portrayed the iconic character of King Satya Harishchandra in a stage production at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. His theatre experience strengthened his understanding of character, emotion, dialogue, and dramatic structure elements that continue to influence his approach to filmmaking.
Driven by a desire to understand storytelling at a deeper level, Naaag worked with acclaimed theatre writer Umesh Bhatia as a screenplay writer, contributing to theatre productions while developing his writing skills. His journey into filmmaking expanded further with DHENU (2024), a National Geographic documentary exploring the cultural and social significance of cows in India.
He subsequently worked as the Screenplay Writer and Associate Director on the Hindi art film Antrik (2025), directed by Umesh Bhatia , Produced by White canvas Movies, under the productions of AN entertainments. The film received an official selection at the Jagran Film Festival and was recognized as Best Art Film in Varanasi in 2026. Naaag was also recognized as Best Screenplay Writer in 2026, alongside director Umesh Bhatia, at a film recognition event in Varanasi. These achievements marked another important milestone in Naaag’s growing filmmaking career and further strengthened his position as a writer with a distinct interest in character-driven and unconventional narratives.
Naaag Nithin has now taken a major step forward as an independent filmmaker with ANANKE, an upcoming short film for which he has taken on multiple creative responsibilities as Writer, Screenplay Writer, and Director. The project reflects his interest in exploring psychological, philosophical, and thought-provoking themes through a cinematic language of his own.
Beyond ANANKE, Naaag Nithin is also developing several other projects across feature films, art films, and web series, taking on responsibilities as a writer and director. One of his most ambitious projects is an original Telugu mythological saga set against the spiritual and cultural backdrop of Kashi, combining mythology, human relationships, spirituality, and contemporary storytelling.
Alongside his work behind the camera, Naaag Nithin continues to pursue acting with equal dedication. He is currently playing the lead role in the upcoming Telugu feature film Trilochana, for which he is preparing extensively through a method-based approach to character development. His simultaneous involvement in acting, writing, and direction reflects his commitment to understanding every aspect of filmmaking.
