Actor-activist Richa Chadha was celebrated at the “I Am Woman” Awards, receiving the prestigious “Woman of Substance Award.” The event, hosted by the Karan Gupta Education Foundation (KGEF) and IE University, marked its fifth year by highlighting the achievements and leadership of women.
Dr. Karan Gupta, Founder of KGEF and Managing Director of IE University, praised Chadha for her embodiment of the award’s values. “Richa Chadha is an incredible Woman of Substance, known for her fearless advocacy and commitment to social justice beyond her film career,” Gupta noted.
He elaborated on the event’s mission: “The ‘I Am Woman’ initiative believes in the transformative power of women coming together. This platform aims to inspire and empower through shared stories of resilience and success.”
The evening featured panels and awards that addressed various themes, including Women in Business, Women’s Safety in India, Social Impact, and Women of Substance. Notable speakers included Minal Deshpande from Deloitte, Advocate Mrunalini Deshpande, disability rights activist Swarnalatha J, and Resham Chhabria from ABDL. Discussions were led by prominent figures such as Rohit Roy, Zayed Khan, and Madhoo Shah.
Chadha’s award recognized her substantial contributions to cinema and her ongoing advocacy for women’s rights. The collaboration between KGEF and IE University underscores their dedication to promoting diversity, inclusion, and women’s empowerment.
