Following Sydney’s heavy AFL grand final defeat, veteran Luke Parker has expressed his desire to be traded to North Melbourne.
Parker, a 293-game player for the Swans and a 2012 premiership winner, called the decision to leave his “brothers” a tough one. The 31-year-old, who is contracted to Sydney for next season, is expected to secure a two-year deal with the Kangaroos.
Despite a challenging season, including a pre-season leg injury and a six-week VFL suspension, Parker managed to return to the AFL side, kicking three goals in the Swans’ 60-point grand final loss to Brisbane.
Parker reflected on his 14-year career at Sydney, saying the Swans became his family. Coach John Longmire hailed him as a club champion, praising his resilience and competitive spirit.
