Rockstar DSP Recalls Meeting A Fan Who Was Clueless About Him, Says ‘I Met Someone Who Enjoyed My Song & Explained Its Charm To Me’

Often, music is said to be a universal language. And who better than PAN-India composer Rockstar DSP to attest to this fact? Devi Sri Prasad, popularly known as DSP is most definitely India’s most celebrated music composers, but he did not know that he was also captivating firangi hearts. A trip to Europe, turned out to be a full circle moment for the Rockstar and he shared a heartwarming anecdote that perfectly captures the global impact of Indian music and his music.

He recalled, “While traveling in Europe after the release of Pushpa, I had a remarkable experience with a cab driver who was not even from there. When he asked where we were from, we told him India. He enthusiastically shared that he loved Indian movies and that he had a favorite Indian song. As he searched on his phone, our hearts raced with curiosity about which song he might play. He typed ‘ROR’ then ‘BOB’ and then he erased it and typed ‘O’ and then he found and played ‘O Antava Mavva’ and was completely vibing on it.”

He continued, “It made for a memorable moment because for the very first time, I met someone who was enjoying my song and explaining its charm to me. My friend started recording this moment and told the driver, “Do you know who this man is? He’s the one who made this song.” The driver didn’t believe us at first, thinking we were joking. After a fair amount of convincing, he searched for me online before the truth sank in. When he realized I was indeed the composer, he was so overwhelmed that he got out of the car, asked for a selfie, turned off his meter, and insisted on being our guide for the entire day.”

“This experience demonstrated the magical power of music and Indian cinema to create connections across cultures. A man from a completely different country formed an instant bond with us through a song, and I remain grateful for the opportunity to create music that touches people’s lives so deeply,” an elated DSP said. This story highlights how DSP’s composition ‘O Antava Mavva’ from the Telugu superhit ‘Pushpa’ is a fan-favourite and crowd-puller, not just in India but globally too. For DSP, this was reward enough, to see his songs connect with not just a PAN-India audience but worldwide too.
