Namita Thapar is one of the leading business women of India. She is the Executive Director (ED) of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, a multinational pharmaceutical company based in Pune, Maharashtra, India.

Namita was born on 21 March 1977 in Pune, Maharashtra. His father is Satish Mehta, Founder and CEO of Emcure Pharmaceuticals and his mother is Bhavana Mehta. Namita was very good in studies from the beginning, she did her schooling in Pune only. After that he completed his studies as Chartered Accountant in 1998. For his further studies, he went to USA and did MBA from Duke University there in 2001. After completing her MBA degree, Namita worked as a senior manager in the financial planning department of Abbott for 5 years.

Considers her mother as her inspiration

Namita Thapar considers her mother as her biggest inspiration. Namita’s mother got married long ago, due to which she could not fulfill her dreams. That’s why Namita’s mother wanted Namita to fulfill her dreams. She wanted her daughter to become a successful business leader. Namita’s mother did not tell her common stories like others, but she used to tell her stories of business women published in business magazines, which inspired Namita a lot.

Took command of Emcure Pharmaceuticals

In 2007, she returned to India from the USA and took over her father’s business. Returning to India, he took up the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Emcure Pharmaceuticals. Namita’s wisdom and hard work took the company to new heights and Namita soon became the Executive Director of the company.

Today, apart from being the Executive Director of Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Namita is also a judge on Shark Tank India, through which she has invested in many startups. Namita is also the India Head of Young Entrepreneurs Academy, which teaches business principles to children aged 11 to 18 years across 6 major cities of India (Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune, Chennai and Ahmedabad). Today Namita’s net worth is Rs 600 crore and the value of her company has crossed Rs 6000 crore.
