Punjab cricketer and Indian team opener batsman Shubman Gill has been selected as BCCI’s Cricketer of the Year. At the same time, former all-rounder Ravi Shastri will be given the Life Time Achievement Award. BCCI’s annual awards, which are going to be held after 2019, are to be distributed in Hyderabad on Tuesday. During this time, cricketers from India and England teams are also expected to participate before the first test match starting from January 25.
Shubman Gill has performed brilliantly in the year 2023. He scored five centuries in ODIs in a span of 12 months, and also became the fastest batsman to score 2000 runs in this format. Shubman can be seen batting at number three in the Test series against England. He failed in this sequence against South Africa, but he would like to make a great comeback on home ground.

Ravi Shastri was the head coach till 2021
Ravi Shastri has played 80 Tests and 150 ODIs for India. He has also earned a lot of name as a commentator and has also been the coach of the Indian team twice. He was the team director between 2014 and 2016. After that he remained the head coach of the team till the 2021 T20 World Cup. During his coaching tenure, India won two consecutive Test series against Australia in their country. However, due to the combination of Shastri and Virat Kohli, India could not win the ICC trophy.

Test Championship final played under Shastri’s coaching
India did reach the final of the World Test Championship in 2019 under his coaching, but had to face defeat at the hands of New Zealand, while India reached the semi-finals of the 2019 ODI World Cup. Shastri had said after the 2021 T20 World Cup that he could not be more proud of the team. This is one of the best teams in the history of cricket, the kind of performance this team has done, it does not happen every day.
